Fedora 20 has been out for at least a month so I loaded it up to give it a quick preview. Some of the latest improvements to Gnome shell are worth noting.
I’m amused that I thought this was a Breaking Bad inspired codename but in fact it’s a Breaking Bad pun name.

Ubuntu’s latest release 13.04 Raring Ringtail nudged me to make the move to Fedora. A simple boot glitch a 3rd of the time was all it took.
In the last two weeks I’ve been casually using Fedora 18 and it’s what I don’t see that has me impressed. I haven’t had an application crash notification which was happening regularly in Ubuntu. System updates are simple and easy with Yum Extender. I’m also not getting hounded automatically every time a tiny update is available.
A solid XFCE experience is a must since I use my system for both work and personal projects so I think I found a solid distribution this time. In the past I’ve had issues with wifi, audio and backlight controls but it appears F18 resolved these during the installation process so I could get to work.
My current desktop, yet again is inspired by Tron. This time using the XFCE spin of Fedora.
